St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School’s Mayo Arts Festival is set to return on Saturday, August 1, inviting families and local residents to experience a vibrant showcase of student creativity across performance and visual arts.
For Year 12 student and Music Captain Francesca Berlese, who has performed at the past five festivals, the event has become a meaningful highlight on the school calendar.
“It’s really important to me because music is such a big passion of mine. Being able to perform and show the community what music can do – how it brings people together – is incredibly special. It creates a sense of connection that’s so important in everyone’s lives.”
The festival will feature a diverse program of live music, dance and drama performances, alongside student visual art exhibitions.
Community members can also enjoy a range of family‑friendly activities throughout the day, including amusement rides and face painting.
A selection of food trucks and artisan market stalls will add to the festive atmosphere, making the event a relaxed and welcoming experience for people of all ages.
Organisers hope the festival will draw strong attendance again this year, offering community members a chance to support emerging young performers and artists.
“It’s an event people look forward to,” Francesa said. “Once you’ve been, you understand why it matters.”
