A New Farm CEO is motivated and inspired by the strength of the vulnerable young mums and children of Queensland that she works with every day.
“These young women who are mums and who need a place to live are incredibly strong and courageous and brave. I see their resilience and it inspires me to do more,” the Lady Musgrave Trust CEO Victoria Parker said.
As Queensland’s oldest charity, the Lady Musgrave Trust has been supplying affordable, subsidised, and safe housing for women and children at the risk of crisis or homelessness for 144 years.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be in this role, delivering options for these young women and children so that they can have the futures that they deserve,” Ms Parker said.
Finding the solution to homelessness is not the easiest job, but with the help of awareness, fundraisers, campaigns and more Ms Parker is determined to fix this unavoidable problem.
“We can change culture around gender stereotypes and domestic and family violence and make society more equitable,” she said.
This May, Ray White Queensland and Leading Ladies of Real Estate are hosting a Pink Tie Gala fundraiser with all proceeds donated to the Lady Musgrave Trust.
The gala is most important to Ms Parker as it demonstrates to her how corporate Australia has taken initiative and gotten involved in Queensland’s growing housing crisis.
“It’s a bunch of individuals within a company structure saying, ‘we’re up for this’, and rolling up their sleeves and getting it done,” she said.
Haesley Cush, CEO of Ray White Collective, will take the stage at the gala as the evening’s auctioneer.
The event includes a seated three-course dinner, live entertainment, charity auction and will be held at The Star Brisbane Centre on May 30.
