New unveiling child’s play

New Farm State School (NFSS) students can look forward to new adventures at lunchtime with the opening of their new playground on October 8.

NFSS Principal Carmel McGrath said: “It’s definitely not just a playground, it’s a collective effort of raising funds from our community. It was the contribution of the ideas and input from parents, students, and staff in the design.”

“It’s created wonderful learning and fun for our teachers and students. I think it’s really fabulous that the students really feel like they have had a say in it,” she said.

Tobias Volbert from Urban Play, who designed the playground, said the collaboration with the school allowed them to design a space where students can be physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively engaged.

“We worked together to make sure that this was not just a great playground, but to ask, how can we use it for outdoor learning, how can we learn about shapes, how can we learn about different colours, angles, about our physical mobility in this space?” he said.
