Clayfield College could have a future music star in its ranks with Year 12 student Chloe Noon.
The budding musician has shared her music with the world by entering triple j’s Unearthed High 2024 songwriting competition, which aims to find Australia’s best high school age artist.
The competition attracted over 1000 entries this year, and the winner will receive mentorship and support from industry experts and artists.
Chloe said that her original song ‘You Took My Problem (Not My Man)’ blends together guitar, vocals and synth, and was inspired by personal experiences.
“Music has always been a really big part of my life… writing down my experiences helps to stop things getting bottled up inside,” Chloe said.
“When I’m feeling emotional, I’ll get out my notes app and write down lyrics… then I’ll get my guitar out to work on the melodies and chord progressions.”
She said that another big milestone for her was when 2024 The Voice Australia judge Kate Miller-Heidke asked Chloe to join her in performing the finale song of Clayfield College’s recent On the Green concert.
“That was amazing. I was like I have to take the opportunity,” Chloe said.
Outside of school, Chloe busks and has a job singing and playing at Vapiano in Gold Coast. She plans to keep songwriting, entering competitions, and one day release her own album.
