New Farm designer Sarah Hutson, hot off a New York runway, is set to dazzle with her striking designs at Brisbane Fashion Month (BMF).
Ms Hutson said her label, SFH Designs, was only meant to be a six-week pop-up store in New Farm but is now heading into its sixth year.
Her designs have featured in many parts of the world, from Brisbane Fashion Month to more recently New York Times Square Fashion Week.
“Brisbane Fashion Month is incredible, and always supportive of me and offering different opportunities for small businesses. Retail is hard, so we’ve got to show ways that we’re still here,” Ms Hutson said.
“It was a great achievement to showcase Brisbane designs in New York.”
Ms Hutson said that she was inspired to start designing when she came across colourful clutches from northern Thailand. Her designs aim to bring smiles onto people’s faces and stop traffic.
“Colour for us is joy, that’s why everything is colourful. There are patterns against patterns, experiences and fabrics you don’t expect but they work so well together,” Ms Hutson said.
“I love fashion that is timeless…We don’t do trends, we just keep up with classic looks that have the staying power to always look fabulous.”
SFH Designs will be part of BMF’s signature Brisbane Designer Showcase on October 18, one of numerous fashion events throughout BMF’s month of showcases. Find out more at brisbanefashionmonth.com.au
