Theatre of Magic, described by audiences as “mind-blowing” and “the best magic show ever seen,” has found a new home at Rydges in Fortitude Valley.
Created by Christopher Wayne, co-star of the globally successful Naked Magicians, alongside world-class magicians Josh Norbido and The Amazing Nigel, the exclusive show offers a rare opportunity for Brisbane audiences. With just 40 guests per show, audiences experience an intimate, one-of-a-kind performance.
Having been a professional magician for 20 years, Mr Wayne has performed on some of the world’s most iconic stages, including Las Vegas and Broadway.
However, he says his “favourite thing in the world now” is delivering a much more personal magic experience.
“Although I was able to have success in places like Vegas as the Naked Magicians, I now spend every day thinking how I can create the most magical weekend for 80 people across two shows,” he said.
“I like that the most magical show in the country is in Brisbane and Brisbane only – there’s nowhere else in Australia you can see this.
“My favourite thing in the world is getting to show every single person incredible magic, and then shaking their hand at the end.”
Offering a close-up show and a floor show every Saturday night, Mr Wayne says the beauty of the Theatre of Magic is “there is no message in the shows whatsoever”.
“We’ve created this as a safe bet that is the ultimate family night, tourist night or date night,” Mr Wayne said.
“Audiences can expect and are guaranteed world class magic and 5-star hospitality.
“It’s not about us, or our message – it’s your night out, and it’s the most magical night out you could possibly have,” he said.
The inspiration for Theatre of Magic came when Mr Wayne visited the world-famous Magic Castle in Los Angeles, where he witnessed a 40-seat close-up magic show that left him speechless.
“I’d never seen anything like it, and I’d seen everything,” he said.
“In an industry where we usually have this idea about being bigger and better, I realised that we have nothing like this in Australia,”
“I thought, what if we make magic the most intimate and exclusive thing you could ever experience?”
With that, he crafted the Theatre of Magic, where every audience member can watch magic unfold just inches away from their eyes.
The Theatre of Magic kicks off its first show at Rydges Fortitude Valley on Saturday, October 12, offering a unique magic experience with two shows every weekend.
