Some of the world’s funniest people will soon flock to Brisbane for a month of laughs at the Brisbane Comedy Festival.
Running from April 24 to May 24, the festival will take over Brisbane Powerhouse, The Tivoli, Fortitude Music Hall and The Princess Theatre, serving far more than just stand-up.
The jam-packed program spans bold solo shows, late-night chaos and genre-bending performances, from salacious satire and outrageous silliness to big-hearted storytelling and everything in between.
The return of the Brisbane Comedy Festival Showcase will see a stacked lineup of comedy heavyweights and rising stars take over The Tivoli for a one-night laugh-fest that hits hard and sells fast.
The cult hit comedy Speed: The Movie, The Play is a high-octane, low-fi homage to the 1994 action thriller Speed, which takes place at The Powerhouse on a real vintage orange-and-white Brisbane bus that once serviced New Farm – a 1970 Leyland Panther.
Looking for something looser? After Hours is where comedians drop the script, test new material and let chaos reign in a late-night variety show format.
Frocking Hilarious is back to unite Australia’s funniest women for a powerful and side-splitting afternoon in support of ActionAid’s mission to empower women worldwide.
The wildly popular Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare: Hamlet promises unpredictable hilarity night after night, as cast members tackle the spoken word whilst under the influence.
Rock Drag and Blak pride feature in Ben Graetz’s Bogan Villea, alongside powerhouse performers including Rove McManus, Pete Helliar, Sammy J, Stephen K Amos, Anisa Nandaula, Olga Koch, Reuben Kaye, Sam Taunton, Tim Batt, Tom Sainsbury, Urvi Majumdar, Ting Lim, Nick Capper, Rapha Manajem, Rowan Thambar, and dozens more across the full program.
