Brisbane’s most loved farmers market brand is expanding, with Jan Powers Farmers Markets – Eagle Farm set to launch at the Eagle Farm Racecourse on Sunday, May 10 (Mother’s Day).
Opening 7am-1pm every Sunday, the new market will bring Jan Powers’ signature, carefully curated mix of farm-fresh produce, coffee, flowers, hot and cold food, bakery goods, plants and artisan products to Brisbane’s inner north, offering a premium weekly food experience in one of the city’s most historic venues.
Entry is free.
Long recognised as a pioneer of Brisbane’s farmers market movement, the late Jan Power spent more than three decades reshaping how the city shops, eats and gathers, including launching the iconic Brisbane Powerhouse Farmers Markets to champion direct connections between producers and communities. Her legacy continues under the stewardship of daughter, Astrid Gates, through markets now synonymous with quality, integrity and atmosphere.
The launch of Jan Powers Farmers Markets – Eagle Farm marks a natural evolution of that vision, revitalising a landmark venue while expanding a market network that already includes the Brisbane Powerhouse Farmers Markets and Manly Harbour Markets, both of which continue to operate on Saturdays.
“This is a beautiful new chapter for Eagle Farm Racecourse and for our market community,” Astrid Gates, Managing Director of Jan Powers Farmers Markets, said.
“A market in this area has been deeply missed, and we’re excited to take up the mantle. The response from the local community has been huge, with a 100 per cent positive response from our stallholder community wanting to be involved. It’s a powerful reminder of how important farmers markets are right now, as places of connection, trust and shared experience.”
“BRC is proud for Eagle Farm Racecourse to become the newest member of the Jan Powers Farmers Markets family, and we would like to thank Astrid and her team for the opportunity to showcase our beautiful, heritage-listed racecourse in an exciting and different light,” Brisbane Racing Club CEO Karl deKroo said.
“Community is at the heart of this partnership, and together we aim to reinvigorate Brisbane’s inner north by reconnecting growers and customers, strengthening consumer confidence, and championing farm-to-plate produce.
“I’m confident the residence of Ascot will join those in our surrounding suburbs in embracing this wonderful market.”
Designed as a welcoming weekly gathering point for inner-north locals and families, the Eagle Farm market will feature live music, wide open spaces and a relaxed Sunday atmosphere, while maintaining the high standards and producer-first ethos for which Jan Powers Farmers Markets are known.
Free parking will be available in the infield of Eagle Farm Racecourse, with entry via Mein Street off Nudgee Road.
