Entering politics after 30 years in business, the question local chartered accountant Stuart Fraser is asked most often is – why?

“Dad moved into the city, after farming out west, and ended up in politics later in life,” said Stu Fraser, LNP Senate Candidate for Queensland (pictured).

“He always said if you sit on the sidelines complaining then you are part of the problem – you have to get on the field to make a difference.”

After 10 years volunteering for the LNP, Mr Fraser said now was the right time to run for the Senate to represent his community and Queensland in Canberra.

“Queenslanders are very good at getting things done – it’s in our DNA,” Mr Fraser said. “In the Senate I can remove obstacles and make sure Queensland gets a fair share of Federal funding.”

He and his wife Genevieve have lived in New Farm for twenty years, schooling their children in the local community with the eldest now studying at QUT.

Mr Fraser has spent 12 years volunteering on not-for-profit boards overseeing care for the aged, disabled and vulnerable and wants to combine compassion with strategic decision making.

“When government spends our taxes we want them to minimise waste, help as many people as possible, and distribute resources fairly. That’s how I’ll measure my success – creating opportunities for people at all stages of life,” he said.
