Brothers Rugby Club has welcomed Tony Lalor as President for 2025, taking over from Geoff Rodgers who led the club for three years.

“I’m excited for the role and hoping to continue on the good work that Geoff has done,” Mr Lalor said.

“We’ve had some really great results, in junior rugby, senior rugby, and touch, we want to continue that next year.

“Hopefully we can do just as well, although this year was one of our best ever in the history of the club, with back-to-back premiership wins in seniors and many other achievements.

“We’ll do our best; I know the playing group is keen to do one better.”

Mr Lalor, a St Joseph’s Nudgee College old boy, first started playing at Brothers in 1989 in the Colts program and represented the club throughout the various grades until 2005.

“I’ve made a lot of great relationships there, lifelong friends; it’s a place that is really a big part of me and I just want to give back where I can,” he said.

For about 10 years, Mr Lalor was on the Management Committee Board up until 2020 in various roles including Secretary and Vice President, when he moved away from Queensland for a little while.

Last year he rejoined as Vice President before stepping up as President for 2025.

With redevelopment plans in the works, at this stage planned to commence after the season ends, it is shaping up to be a significant year for the club.

Brothers secured federal funding as well as a pre-election promise from the LNP state government for their redevelopment.

Mr Lalor said he hopes to see the local community at their games in 2025 and is open to hearing their feedback.
