Northshore Hamilton residents and visitors can expect detours and changed traffic conditions due to construction on the Northshore Brisbane Street Renewal Program which commenced last month.
A spokesperson for Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) said site establishment activities commenced on September 16, with the office and compound to be located at the corner of Theodore Street and MacArthur Avenue.
Demolition and roadworks by the contractor BMD are expected to begin in late September or early October.
In addition to possible road closures, there will be temporary traffic, pedestrian, and cyclist detours near the construction site office at Theodore Street and MacArthur Avenue.
The EDQ spokesperson said traffic control measures and clear signage will be in place to ensure safety.
MacArthur Avenue will undergo major enhancements as part of these initial works, including the development of a sub-tropical boulevard featuring separated cycleways, footpaths, and native landscaping.
The first phase, which began in September, will take approximately 18 months to complete, weather and site conditions permitting.
Specific details about road closures and alternative routes will be shared with the community on the EDQ Have Your Say website as they become available.
BMD and EDQ encourage anyone who lives or travels through the area to register for email updates by following the project on the Northshore Brisbane page of the EDQ Have Your Say website.
