Uncertainty over paid parking at the Albion Park Harness Racing Club has had locals scratching their heads after Brisbane City Council denied any involvement in parking changes.

A Racing Queensland spokesperson said: “Racing Queensland and the Brisbane City Council are in ongoing discussions regarding a section of the paid parking area at the Albion Park Harness Racing Club.”

Signs were put up around the carpark by Racing Queensland titled “Save the Albion Carpark”, which have since been removed.

They read: “We have been informed by Brisbane City Council that they wish to significantly reduce this carpark to less than half its current size.”

The signs included a QR code where people could register their details to show support for the carpark to remain unchanged.

However, a council spokesperson said this was a privately-owned carpark and the matter had nothing to do with council.

The Racing Queensland spokesperson said: “While the signage was posted prematurely, RQ has since removed these from its car park and will continue to engage with Brisbane City Council in good faith.”

The carpark is owned by Racing Queensland.
