St Rita’s College celebrates 100 years

St Rita's College Principal Maree Trims looks forward to sharing this milestone year with the community

St Rita’s College will celebrate its centenary in 2026, marking 100 years of educating young women.

Principal Maree Trims said that this year is a chance to reflect and celebrate.

“2026 is an opportunity to reflect on our rich history, to honour those who have come before us, and to give thanks for the enduring legacy they have left,” Mrs Trims said.

““For over a century, St Rita’s College has educated, empowered and inspired generations of young women to become confident, courageous and compassionate women of action.

“To all who have walked through our gates – our Presentation Sisters, students, teachers, staff, alumnae, and families – we offer our gratitude.

“Your contributions, commitment, and passion have laid the foundation on which we continue to grow,” she said.

St Rita’s College first opened its doors in 1926, after Presentation Sisters Alice Kennedy and Mother M Patrick Madden purchased Stanley Hall along with four acres of land surrounding the residence.

Officially opened on September 27 that year, the College was registered as a Secondary School (boarding and day) in 1926 with boys and girls enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 3, and girls only from Years 4 to Senior.

100 years on, St Rita’s College educates more than 1,200 girls from Years 5 to 12.

Throughout 2026, the College will host several events to mark the centenary, including a staff celebration to acknowledge the contribution of past and present colleagues, a Presentation Sisters High Tea, a Gala Dinner, alumnae gatherings, and a Centenary Mass.
